Women In Crisis: Shelter and Support in Sault Ste. Marie

Women In Crisis provides free temporary emergency shelter and support services 24 hours a day to women who have experienced violence. The purpose of the shelter is to provide a safe refuge for women and their children leaving abuse.

The shelter is designed to ensure that women and their children are supported while they recover from the violence and abuse they have experienced and witnessed. The shelter is handicapped accessible and provides a temporary home for up to 24 women and children. In addition to safe, confidential, emergency housing, Women In Crisis provides a variety of emergency shelter services, including:

  • basic daily needs
  • childcare
  • parenting skills
  • counselling
  • referrals
  • advocacy
  • assistance in finding safe, affordable housing
  • family court support
